Meadowlands Stormwater System and Adjacent Areas - Current Projects
Below is an outline of the current steps being taken to move toward maintaining and improving the Meadowlands Stormwater Filtration System, the adjacent areas (including the conservancy zone and our lake shore) and, subsequently, our entire neighborhood. A lot of hard work has already been completed to address these items. Each project has multiple steps that require care and consideration to review our options and determine the proper course of action. Click on some of the topics below for more detail.
* Meadowlands Stormwater Area - Maintenance. Before we can determine the best way to maintain our Stormwater Treatment System or improve the vegetation in the Meadowlands, the City of Camas requires that we must first determine what governmental agency has jurisdiction over the matter, if any since this is private property and was created as a stormwater treatment facility. Work is underway to plan for and streamline whatever processes are necessary. To get more up-to-date information, click here.
* The Heritage Trail Beautification Project. This is a volunteer project working with the City to clean and repair the conservancy zone along the Lake. We will let you know of the official call for volunteers and the first clean-up date. Click here for the current status.
* The Shoreline Erosion Prevention Project. This project is it its infancy. Homeowners led by Steve Bang walked Heritage Trail with representatives from the Washington State Department of Ecology, the Washington House of Representatives, the City of Camas, and wetlands biologist John McConnaughey. They observed the current conditions and trends of lake erosion and its effect on our lake shore, the trail, the boat dock, and eventually our property. They are currently looking into federal, state and local funding options and actions to stop and possibly repair erosion damage to our Lacamas' shore. If you would like to help out with this project, please contact Steve Bang. This is not an official LS HOA project, however we are happy to inform our members as interested citizens of Camas.
